The Expert Witness Handbook describes the qualifications necessary to become a litigation consultant, shows you how to break into the business and then takes you step by step in dealing with attorneys, judges and juries. To qualify as an expert, you must have education or practical experience in the field but an advanced degree is not required.

The Expert Witness Handbook answers the questions:

  • What does an expert witness do?
  • How much does an expert witness charge?
  • How will I prepare for testimony?
  • What will happen in the courtroom?
  • How can I make my testimony more effective?
  • How should I handle difficult questions?
  • Where can I get more information?
and much, much more.

Serving as an expert witness is one invigorating and profitable form of consulting; a way to capitalize on many years of experience and study.

This book is not just for engineers, doctors or city planners. It is for every professional who wants an exciting new career as well as every expert witness who wants to serve more professionally and more successfully.

First published in 1987, The Expert Witness Handbook has been completely revised to reflect new law and new thought.

Author of The Expert Witness Handbook

Dan Poynter has been a practicing expert for more than 30 years; he counsels and testifies in parachute cases. He has served as an expert witness throughout the U.S. and in five other countries, so far. This book is full of the inside nut-and-bolts tips only a participant could know.

Dan Poynter's seminars have been featured on CNN, his books have been pictured in The Wall Street Journal, and his story has been told in U.S. News & World Report. The media comes to him because he is the leading authority on how to succeed as an expert witness. He has participated at the last ten National Forensic Conferences as a featured speaker, breakout leader and keynoter. Dan is an active member of the National Speakers Association.

The author was prompted to write this book because so many people approached him for information on litigation consulting. He lives in Santa Barbara, California.
