A Housekeeper Is Cheaper Than a Divorce: Why You CAN Afford to Hire Help and How to Get It by Kathy Fitzgerald Sherman. PO Box 390220, Mountain View, CA 94039-0220. orders@LifeToolsPress.com. www.LifeToolsPress.com
"Disputes between husbands and wives over the division of household labor are a leading cause of marital strife. And it’s no wonder—women spend an average of 35 hours per week doing chores like cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, and laundry, while their husbands spend less than nine. Even when work is divided equally, how do busy families fit in the equivalent of a full-time job and still have time for more interesting and fun activities? Despite the cultural myths that label household help as a luxury only for the wealthy, this book shows that hiring help can be not only an effective time-management tool but also the best economic decision for a family. Here are some ideas for rearranging budgets to hire the help that will give busy women time for work, play, family, exercise, even needed sleep. Affordability isn’t the only stumbling block addressed in the book, which explains both the “why’s” and the “how’s” of hiring household help. Challenges dealt with include guilt feelings, tax mysteries, language barriers, training challenges, differing quality standards, and finding the perfect employee to handle unwanted daily chores."

In fiscal year 2003 there was over $29 billion dollars of child support owed to children in the United States, and over $500 million collected undistributed child support. The definition by the United States Office of Child Support Enforcement of collected undistributed child support funds are those funds paid by non-custodial parents that never quite reach the parent who has custody of the child/children and are held by the state child support agency. Parent must take responsibility for the support of their children and keep track of the money owed to them. If you do now the government will gladly keep it and use it for other government services. For more information please visit www.supportingourchildren.com or email me at detra_davis@supportingourchildren.com Child support...the only none taxable income children can receive."

A WEALTH OF FAMILY: An Adopted Son's International Quest for Heritage, Reunion and Enrichment by Thomas Brooks. P.O. Box 722034 | Houston, TX 77272 USA. Success@AlphaMultimedia.com. www.AlphaMultimedia.com
"This inspiring account of adoption, reunion, and heritage from Thomas Brooks provides a timely and provocative perspective on multicultural families and powerful insights on overcoming racism and poverty. Brooks grew up as the only child of a struggling single mother in inner-city Pittsburgh. He was battling racial stereotypes at school and searching for a place among his peers. Then he was told at age eleven that he was adopted. Brooks had actually been born to a white biological mother who descended from Lithuanian Jews and a black Kenyan foreign student father. Years after that stunning revelation, Brooks escaped the ghetto and traveled to search for his heritage. He found his biological mother in London with his previously unknown British siblings. He then located his biological father and extended family in Nairobi. His international search and the resulting reunions have profoundly affected three families in the United States, England, and Kenya. "

With over 100,000 copies in print since publication, BYBR is a testament to Bob Meehan's unrivaled insight into teenagers and adolescent chemical abuse. This powerful book guides readers through the psyche of these "fun machines" we call teenagers. Additionally, the text offers parents practical advice about teens and drugs in a time of drug proliferation in society and the media, even what to look for in local drug programs and how to start a drug program. The insight in BYBR stems from Bob Meehan's 30 years of helping thousands of teenagers and their families recover from the devastation of teenage chemical abuse and learn to live a life of "enthusiastic sobriety." This newly revised edition of the classic text in its field has been updated and re-released in 2008. Charred Souls: A Story of Recreational Child Abuse by Trena Cole. Oberpark Publishing, Inc., 55 Monument Circle, Suite 1422, Indianapolis, IN 46204. info@oberparkpublishing.com. www.oberparkpublishing.com
"336p. 2002. $16.95. (097235350X) Charred Souls is a personal accounting of a young girl's childhood as she and her six siblings grew up with parents who used child abuse as a source of entertainment. In her book, Trena Cole describes the methods of intimidation, torture and isolation used to keep the children from seeking help from others. It also describes how, since much of the extended family practiced the same type of abusive behavior, the children assumed the whole world lived this way. These parents, while they may have been reported as potential child abusers, were never charged or prosecuted despite the atrocious, sadistic torture they inflicted their young children. Trena, the oldest child, became the parental role model, nurturer and caretaker for the younger children from the age of five, never having anyone to nurture or care for her, and learned to dissociate to survive the chaos. The language is raw, ugly and harsh, just as it was screamed at the children until they were old enough to escape the madness. Trena Cole is nothing short of a miracle. She is now a successful business woman and has, as a single mother, raised a son who graduated with honors from college and is now in graduate school. She is a perfect example that the cycle can be broken. The book is not written elegantly or eloquently, but it is a sincere, heartfelt accounting of Trena's childhood. I believe it would be beneficial for anyone in the fields of therapy, law, education or medicine, as well as, other survivors of child abuse. "

He is NOT Left Behind...He is with Me! by Brenda A. Jenkins & Dr. Loretta J. Martin. P.O. Box 22 Royal Oak, MI 48086-0022. brenda.jenkins@ariel-connections.com. www.ARIEL-Connections.com
"2006 Newly released book renders a focus that returns the primary responsibility of education and foundation back to where it belongs – to us parents and the village. Outside educators and others have a secondary responsibility to instruct our children, but getting them started begins with parents. This book reveals to us how to make the two connect. The opening chapter reminds us that we as parents are responsible for setting a good example as well as guiding them in the appropriate direction. Jenkins made it clear that as a lighthouse, we are projecting influences toward our children and others in our circle. As a lighthouse, we must instill in our children basic values and life skills to be productive, positive, functional, assets to society. We project our light by investing time in our children. We project our light by demonstrating our love and concern for their welfare. We project our light by taking an active interest in their lives. We project our light by tending to their needs to affect positive outcomes and future. "

Men Don't Listen by Wayne L. Misner. MenDontListen.com. MenDontListen@aol.com. www.MenDontListen.com
"Women say, I cant get him to open up! He just doesnt listen! I know there is something inside but, I cant get it out of him. Theres a big misconception that men do not want to hear. It is more accurate to say, they do not dare to feel. The title tells us this is a self-help book. The author has us climb inside of the head of men to decode the secrets they hold onto. Misners goal is for the reader to have the relationship they have always dreamed of. Finally, help for the male and female interested in improving or saving a relationship. It is written for anyone who has been frustrated by the male-female relationships and wants guidance with understanding the opposite sex. Use these proven methods to finally understand how to get him to communicate. While the title of this manuscript is sure to draw female attention, this book is for men as well. The author speaks to each group independently at times and other times to both in general. Target readership would include married couples, people recovering from divorce, singles in relationships, singles frustrated by male-female differences, couples trying to save a relationship, and anyone studying interpersonal communication skills. This is a worthy self-help publication written with heart, not theory, and is a clear and well organized book that provides couples with all the ammunition they need to put their lives together back on a positive footing. The author deals with various aspects of relationships, dealing with commonly encountered problems at appropriate length. He writes with an impressive gender neutrality: the manuscript deals with mens and womens attitudes and needs in equal depth, rarely offering a value judgement (men are wrong to want this, etc.). This inclusiveness is perhaps the books key strength: the book can be read by partners, each of whom will feel the author is speaking to them and will therefore take notice of what is being said. As the author covers men and their emotional suppression, we see how unfortunately in our society, men are taught not to express their feelings and whats even worse, to not even know what they are. And so, when they are attempting to communicate with women or an important partner or a family member, its very hard to listen because men dont have the language or the inner experience to match up with what women, children or adolescent are typically saying to them. Here Misners point and analysis suggest how to overcome that. It is very, very important and extremely helpful to illuminate the inner workings of the male psyche to help women gain insights that will open channels of communication with the men in their lives. Misner examines the ways in which society dictates the behavior of men, so that men themselves can better access their emotions and get in touch with the true self that is often obscured while trying to conform to societal expectations of manly behavior. Through his approach Misner facilitates a fluid dialogue between the sexes that will break down the barriers that impede reciprocal understanding. Misner often appeals to womens more sensitive (and in some ways less vulnerable) nature to suggest strategies that will nurture trust and openness in men. Couples who read this helpful and accessible text can hope to enhance the quality of their lives. Not only does Misner provide ways in which men and women can improve the quality of their relationships, but he also offers fresh approaches to time management and interpersonal skills that will alleviate stress and bring love and success into their lives. Another contribution was that the author included so many wonderful, terrific lists about whats fun, comfort things, whats playful, finding the child inside yourself, etc. Going back to very basic pleasures that people can share and that can enhance a relationship. Do you know her Mother’s middle name or her Father’s occupation while she was a little girl? Do you ever wonder what made your Mother who she is today? There must be questions you’ve always wanted to ask, yet were hesitant to ask. You are her child. She helped make you, shape and guide you. How did she do this? TAKING CARE OF MOM What I Learned That May Help You Help Your Aging Parent by F.N. Rosenstock. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0595322557/qid=1118650379/sr=1-5/ref=sr_1_5/103-0731273-7412609?v=glance&s=books. thewriteone@gmail.com. www.amazon.com
"Nominated for two awards--the 41at Annual Georgia Author of the Year Award and the Best Books 2005 Award--TAKING CARE OF MOM (ISBN: 0-595-32255-7) is unlike other books written about this subject because it is a realistic look at taking care of an aging parent authored by a hands-on, caregiving daughter. After looking for information, the author found books and articles were written by writers interviewing medical clinicians described what should be done, but were missing one very important element; they were "impractical . . . more theory than realistic,” according to the author. “The reality of taking care of an aging parent is a lot different from the textbook protocol! No one seemed to take into account that we are dealing with feisty, often ornery adults, not submissive children." Among the more provocative chapters, the author includes red flags that led to her situation, avoiding intimidation by medical practitioners, why you should fight the dementia label, and how to deal with siblings. If you have an aging parent, take care of an aging parent, or intend to grow old yourself, TAKING CARE OF MOM is a book you should be reading."

You've Got Male; Tales of Internet Dating and How Women Compromise Themselves to Have a Man in Their Life by Laura Jane. http://outskirtspress.com/webpage.php?ISBN=9781432703196. ljrc1961@sbcglobal.net. outskirtspress.com
"Review from Front Street Review: (this is a portion of the review...look it up to read the rest) Lonnie Jo is an average, middle-aged woman who is looking for love on the internet. From the get-go of this small story, you will be heartbroken and more than a little angry at Lonnie Jo, as she hops from one huge jerk to the next. You will find yourself mad that Lonnie thinks so little of herself that she constantly ‘settles’ for less because she’s lonely. You’ll also want to go back in time and strangle her husband for making her feel and act like she’s a child that will do anything – even the wrong thing – for attention. I thought it was much more dramatic – and very poignant – when she met up with a real loser who turned out to be a stalker. If anything, I would recommend parents give this to their young, teenage daughters so they can learn what not to do on the internet. I hoped beyond all hope that women would learn NOT to give up any part of their self-esteem in order to find companionship. "
